Sumida Park spreads along both banks of Sumida River. The row of cherry trees on the banks, the water, the reflection of the cherry blossoms and the barge light all together create a fascinating scene unique to this area. As well as sumikayama, Sumida Park quickly became a major hanami spot since the 8th Tokugawa Shogun Yoshimune planted cherry trees on the banks of the river.
