It's not just Tokyo that has bright and gorgeous Christmas and winter illumination.
From north to south, the entire country of Japan is lit up with dazzling lights this season. Below are only a selected few of the marvelous winter light attractions. Some are only until Christmas and some others are bright after New Year's. Enjoy the beauty!

TENJIN FANTASY OF LIGHT 2006

Until Christmas night the entire town of Tenjin is colored in beautiful Christmas illumination. Like any other year the illusionary Water Chapel will flow on the surface of the pond this year too at Kego Park. Music events will be held on December 10th and Christmas Eve providing the visitors a very stylish and relaxing mood. There is also a café inside the park where visitors can sit down and appreciate the marvel of light.

2006 Hiroshima Dreamination

Based on the concept of “Fairyland” hundreds and thousands of warm light creates a dreamy scenery around Heiwa Ohdori and surrounding shops and buildings as if inviting the passerbys into a fairy tale. In addition to the illumination stretching out along the avenue, there is also a 30-meter-tall Christmas Tree and a twinkling castle as well as fantasyland illumination for small children to enjoy. Sub-events will be held every Saturday including a mini live music concert.

26th Sapporo White Illumination
 
The Sapporo White Illumination has been held every year since 1981 and celebrates its 26th holding this year. More than 370,000 lights embrace the entire area of Ohdori Park and Ekimae-dori turning the 1.2-kilometer-long avenue into a white ethereal world for the winter. The illumination statues placed at the park glow all the more whiter reflecting the snow when the temperature drops.

Sendai Pageant of Light
 
The winter symbolic event was started by volunteer citizens twenty years ago. Celebrating its 21st holding this winter will have 700,000 lights brightening up the zelkova trees along Jozenji Street and Aoba Street. A special bus Louvre Sendai Hikari Pageant will run through the tunnel of lights during the illumination term giving the audience a relaxed ride.
